Hotel Duluth, now Greysolon Ballroom, has an illustrious history with deep roots to my home town, Crosby, Minnesota!  George Crosby, a titan of Minnesota industry, was the catalyst for the development and construction of Greysolon Plaza addressing a need of the Zenith City's business class and Northern Minnesota burgeoning mining and shipping industry. Hotel Duluth was built at the pinnacle of Duluth's industrial era and the building is a true gem of the opulence and wealth of the era as seen in is marble floors, gilded ceilings, ornate facade and decedent Moorish Room.  This history makes Greysolon Ballroom a perfect venue for any couple who have hearts for the city of Duluth.

Canal Park and Tischer Creek Duluth Engagement // Jenna & Nathan

Oh my Duluth has my heart! The authenticity, the calm of the lake, the personalities, the parks, waterfalls, trails, food, neighborhoods...  everything!

Jenna and Nathan's color outfits matched their personalities and the authenticity of Duluth echoed the authenticity of their relationship.

Nathan proposed near Crabby Ol’ Bills Duluth's Canal Park boardwalk so we started our session there to capture the joy and excitement of their engagement!  The lake, the boardwalk, the lighthouse, the breakwater, the lift bridge and Crabby Ol’ Bills washed up boat are the essence of Duluth's Canal Park in my mind.

Next we drove up to Congdon Park's Tischer Creek.  What a history this creek holds.  The Congdon's purchased the land all around the creek in order for the creek to power the fountains and garden's at their Glensheen Mansion.  For me, Tischer Creek embodies the beautiful park system of Duluth with its waterfalls, trails, trees and bridges.

Grand Marais Winter Wedding on the North Shore \\ Laura + Jacob

ser·en·dip·i·ty :: the occurrence and development of events by chance in a happy or beneficial way.

How does a woman from Peru, who loves to travel, meet and fall in love with a man, who also loves to travel, in the small MN city of Grand Marais, MN? It is an amazing thing this life, the circumstances we walk into. Like Jacob being a music fan, going to a Dessa concert on Lutsen Mountain and instead of listening to the concert, sitting at the bar speaking Spanish to a beautiful bartender visiting from Peru. Jacob, who loves to travel (that must be inherited because his sisters have it too), met a beautiful woman, who also loves to travel, just a few miles from where he grew up! 

Laura and Jacob were married at Grand Marais' Bethlehem Lutheran Church, stopped at Gunflint Tavern then Artist Point on their way to their reception at North House Folk School catered by my very favorite restaurant on the North Shore, Duluth Grill. Before the wedding we made a trek to Naniboujou Lodge's amazing dining room and hotel.

Even with the subzero temperatures, their North Shore winter wedding was beautiful.

Maybe not serendipity, instead, a gift.
